I’m Soumya Roy - drawn to capturing nature at its most authentic.
My journey with photography began back in 2002, when I held my first analog SLR. I was convinced digital cameras would never match the depth and resolution of film. But high printing costs nudged me toward a DSLR—and the rest is history. Technology kept evolving, and I soon found myself amazed at how far digital photography had come.
Today, everyone is a photographer. High-resolution cameras in every mobile phone make it effortless to capture and share images instantly—only for most of them to be forgotten moments later. Photo-editing tools and AI have become so advanced that it’s often hard to tell what’s real anymore. You can now create the most incredible scenes from a simple prompt.
That’s why authentic photography is today more valuable than ever before—the kind that captures a real moment and lets you relive it through a photo book or print. There’s a unique thrill in venturing into the unknown, waiting for the unexpected, and catching that fleeting instant.
We’ve also now entered the era of mirrorless cameras and powerful autofocus systems, where even amateur photographers can achieve professional results. The bar is higher, and so are the expectations. To keep up, we must keep learning, adapting, and finding new ways to express creativity through the lens.
